Traditionally it was easy to mount a NTFS partition in MEPIS. Due to changes in ntfs-3g and other packages, in SimplyMEPIS 8 it has been necessary to mount the partition manually. Until now.

A 2.6.26.5 kernel is now available in the MEPIS 8.0 Beta pool. BEWARE, if you have certain older disk controller chips, this kernel may switch your ide device names to hdX instead of sdX.

The MEPIS 7.0 pool now contains updates including compiz 0.6.3-1, compizconfig-settings-manager 0.6.0-2, and python-compizconfig 0.6.0-1.

Eclipse 3.2.2-4 has been recompiled for MEPIS and added to the MEPIS 7.0 pool. As usual, Debian Etch users are welcome to install this and other packages from the MEPIS 7.0 pool.

Thanks to some very inspired and dedicated work by the MEPIS community, the look of MEPIS 7.0 has been updated. This is a whole new coordinated look for grub, splashy, and the desktop.

The mepis-manual has been updated in the MEPIS 7.0 pool to, what is believed to be, the final version for the 7.0 release. Many thanks to the MEPIS community members who worked on the manual!

Mepis-config has been updated to enable "Create New" Popup Menu items for OpenOffice Calc, Draw, Impress, and Writer documents.
