Q1. What are the minimum system requirements for MEPIS Linux?

A1 SimplyMEPIS requires at least the following:

1. Intel Pentium or equivalent including newer Celeron, Xeon, AMD or AMD64 processor
2. A bootable CDROM drive
3. 3GB available hard drive space
4. 256 MB RAM

The 64 bit versions of MEPIS will only work with a 64 processor.

If your system only meets the minumum requirements, performance may be poor and it may be necessary to manually adjust the installation configuration.

Q2. What kind of Internet connection do I need to download a MEPIS ISO file?

A2. MEPIS ISO files are usually around 700 MB in size. You need a DSL connection or better to download in a reasonable amount of time, but we have had reports of dedicated users successfully downloading via dialup. In one case it took over a week for the download to complete!

Q3. Does MEPIS work well on laptops?

A3. MEPIS works just as well on laptops as it does on dekstop computers, except that special buttons and some power management features do not work on some models.
