A New Update of antiX 7.0

Morgantown, WV, US and Thessaloniki, Greece, May 14, 2008 -- MEPIS has announced the release of antiX 7.2, "Vetëvendosje."
Built using the MEPIS Linux 7.0 core including the MEPIS 2.6.22 kernel and utilities, along with selected additions from Debian Lenny, this lightweight OS is especially appropriate for older hardware and users who like a very fast functional system.
Pre-configured window managers Fluxbox and IceWM, as well as Conky and ROX Desktop, come
ready to use. The search tool catfish and the video player gxine have been added now; a list of applications is found here: http://antix.mepis.com/index.php/Applications_used_in_antiX-M7.2
New features based on community contributions include revised customized menus for better usability, a detailed set of FAQs for the new user, original wallpapers, and scripts for easy configuration of user and system files.
AntiX is designed to work on computers with as little as 64 MB RAM and Pentium II or equivalent AMD processors, but not K5/K6 processors. After installation, even 32 MB RAM has worked. For people interested in building a version of antiX-M7.2 or MEPIS to their own needs and specifications, the base install alone is also available.
About Anti
Anti is a Brit living and working for the last 18 years as a teacher in Thessaloniki the second largest city in Greece. AntiX is remastered from MEPIS to give something back to the community and to work on boxes with 128MB RAM (It does work with 64MB RAM + 128MB swap). The name alludes to the ideas that it is supposed to be like antics (fun) and it is for antiques (ie older boxes). Plus anti is the nickname of the creator and maintainer of AntiX.
