Beta 7

EnigmaOne's picture

Weird things are happening on the server, and I need to get back with their folks to see if we can get things running correctly.

You can get to the beta 7 .iso via this URI:
http://mepis.gabston-howell.org/download/beta/

If there is a problem with the .iso failing an md5sum check, let me know.

{UPDATE}
Sheesh!
Our work ticket for the upgrade to 200GB storage and 2TB monthly bandwidth became an action item today--about 5 weeks after I "mentioned" it to my "hosting peopulz". Now, not to bludgeon them over it in the least, because that 5 weeks was probably the final phase of their 70,000 domain move from Wild West Domains to FastDomain, Inc./BlueHost.Com; so the lag-time has a rational reason. I simply forgot all about it.

Suffice it to say that, during the account move, our zone file went walkabout, so we have 5 domains that have are MIA until further notice. The irritating aspect of this problem is that email is out of commission.

The usual email addys haven't been restored to operation, but 'Allan{dot}GH{at}gmail{dot}com' can still be used.

This one was bad as well.....

Just finished downloading the iso from your server. Sorry to say that the sum was bad again.

New copy has been uploaded.

New copy has been uploaded. The last upload may have gotten caught in some move-related stuff, or just got itself corrupted on the way up the wire.

The .iso is checking out with the md5sum, on several different distros and release numbers, so it's as good as I can make things on this end.

My occupation?
Well, computer geek-stuff, mostly. I could tell you all about it; but, then I would have to delete you.

I do not give up so easily....

....so I will give it a try again. Need to sleep a little bit so I will let you know tomorrow how the ting went out.

Guess what::::

Your link did work tonigt! I downloaded an iso whith good checksum. GOOD WORK & THANKS A LOT! Burning, burning, burning!

6.5.b7 64 bit

Do you have a good link for the 64bit version?

I'll see what I can do about

I'll see what I can do about zapping the 64-bit version up there....I was, admittedly, waiting for somebody to ask about it before I wen to the trouble.

You can download 64bit from

You can download 64bit from any mirror listed on this site, from what I know that was error free so you soudn't have problems getting it.

Seeing as the RC-1

Seeing as the RC-1 announcement is out, I'll do both the 32 & 64 bit .iso files and get them up shortly. I don't see a reason to fold back to pick-up the 6.0(1) .iso, so I'll wait and put 6.5 up when it goes final.

I'll probably just stock the mirror with the latest testing release and the 6.5-finals and up.

MIRROR STATUS

With an increase from our earlier 200GB of hosting space and 2TB monthly bandwidth cap, to 300GB site space and 3TB monthly transfer cap; I've decided to go ahead and set-up the mirror with historical Final Releases back to 2003, and maintain a running accumulation of Beta/RC releases from 3.4-3, onward.

Taking betas all the way back to 2002-2003 is something I'm considering, but haven't really decided how advisable that would be--however, it would be cool from a historical perspective.

If a chat with the owner of my hosting service comes out net positive, I'll tackle the question of mirroring the MEPIS repos as well.

How's my posting?

Thanks

Thanks EnigmaOne for doing this.

I'm going to do some research in this regard also. It can't hurt to have a couple up-to-date mirrors to offload the drain on the main servers. Smiling

The ability to comfortably use a computer is directly proportional to desire to listen, learn, and experiment, and is inversely proportional to the fear, anger, and stubbornness that you show.
