MEPIS Podcast???

While talking with Warren this evening we got on the subject of how to more effectively communicate with the community. We have been a bit lax, ok horrible, when it comes to this.

Improved WPA support

Up until now MEPIS has had some trouble with WPA and WPA2 support for Intel ipw* chips. After working with Warren this past weekend, Warren has figured out the trouble we were having with WPA support.

New Job

I just wanted to let everyone know that one of the reasons that things have been a bit quiet from me for the past few weeks is that I got a new job! I started the new job on September 18 and have been very busy getting my house ready to sell so that I can move closer to my new job. Things are starting to settle a little bit and I should have some more time to focus on MEPIS again. When I actually move I may be out of the loop for a another week or two. So please bear with me as I make this transition and get settled.

Latest GPL Buzz

This particular blog entry will not be allowed to be replied to and it will not be long. I feel that something needs to be said since Warren does not want to say it. Most everybody, including the author of the newsforge article, is missing the point. MEPIS was contacted by the FSF and the offical stance of how the source needs to be distributed is as follows: "Any and all Linux distros/builds disseminated via the Internet are required to mirror the source code ..." This means we can't just give someone a CD or DVD when they request it. It means we need to make several Gigs of data available over the Internet. We feel that this can be a large stumbling block for many smaller distros that do not have the resources to supply the extra hard drive space and bandwidth to accomidate the extra source.

Talkin' Tech

If you like talking tech then you have found the right place. This is my first blog entry in what I hope to be at least a weekly entry that talks about what we all like best...TECH! I am an avid reader of Digg, Slashdot, OsNews, and just other random sites devoted to tech news. I am also very opinionated about what I read and I am not afraid to voice my $0.02.
